Hello!
My name is Bailey Russo. I am a contemporary artist that paints to explore the feeling that we are a part of something bigger than ourselves. My work sits somewhere between the physical and the unknown, where the figure feels present but also like it's starting to dissolve into something greater.

I work in oil paint primarily, building up layers slowly to create light, depth, and atmosphere. A lot of my focus is on that balance between control and letting things soften, so the figure feels both grounded and connected to something beyond it.
My Story
I did not start painting with a clear idea of what I wanted to say. I just knew I was drawn to creating something that felt deeper than what I could easily explain.

Over time with my growing love for philosophy, I kept coming back to the same questions surrounding consciousness and metaphysics in particular. What does it mean to exist in a body while also feeling connected to something beyond it? Where does that feeling come from, and where does it go?

Those questions slowly started shaping my work. What began as an interest in technique and realism turned into something more introspective. I found myself less focused on a perfect representation and more focused on capturing a feeling, something that sits between presence and disappearance.

Painting became a way to process that. A way to sit with ideas that do not have clear answers. The figures in my work reflect that tension. They feel grounded, but never fully separate from their surroundings. There is always a sense that they are a part of something larger, even if not fully visible.

I do not see my work as explaining anything. If anything, it's the opposite. The objective of my work is to exemplify an ongoing attempt to understand something that keeps unfolding the more I pay attention to it.
