The Edge of Nothing | Oil Painting

The Edge of Nothing came from the aftermath of confronting the idea of nothingness and eventually giving in to it.

There is no panic left in this piece. No struggle, no attempt to find meaning, and no desperate need for an answer. The fear has already been faced. What remains is the emptiness that comes after realizing there may be nothing there to find.

For me, this painting is about that point of emotional defeat where the unknown stops feeling terrifying and simply becomes hollow. The figure is not at the edge deciding whether to move forward. They have already reached it, looked into it, and allowed themselves to become consumed by what they found.

It is the quiet that comes after fear has exhausted itself.
